Bill O’Reilly’s Sticker: “Atheism, Nothing There!”

At Bill O’Reilly. Com, the Catholic talk show host is selling a pack of 5 stickers with a slogan and message: Atheism, Nothing There! The sticker is blue and black, with the blue space on top over twice as large as the black space on the bottom. Atheism is in white letters in the blue space and Nothing There! is in gold letters in the black space.” The size of the stickers in inches, left to right and top to bottom, is not disclosed.

The purpose of the stickers is to taunt and rebut atheists by placing them on the doors of cars, SUVs, trucks, houses, bedrooms, bathrooms, cabinets, refrigerators, the walls in houses and apartments, etc.

Atheism: Nothing There! Exactly what does that mean? What does it imply? What does it assert and contend? That atheists have no rational, persuasive, compelling, erudite, and intelligent arguments?

The atheist position is that nothing is there to prove the existence of God/Gods, not the Christian God, not Jesus as the son of this God, not the Muslim-Islamic God, nor any of the over 1000 Gods that humans have invented and believed in of which there is historical and /or archeological evidence and who knows how many Gods for which there is no historical or archeological evidence.

There is no evidence, objective and empirical, demonstrable and definitive, conclusive and incontrovertible, that any of these Gods exist or have existed. And the absence of evidence is evidence of absence to those who are rational, honest, realistic, objective, empirical, skeptical. And thus a belief in God(s) is faith with no evidence. O’Reilly has it backwards: God, all Gods, nothing there.

And assuming, hypothetically, purely for the sake of argument, that the Christian God, or the Muslim God, is the one true God, and that this can be proven, empirically and irrefutably, this proves that all of the other 1000-plus Gods that humans have invented and believed in don’t exist or have never existed.
