The unreality and absurdity of religion, deism and theism (far more so), the fantasy of God and, under theism, the soul and afterlife, immortality and an eternity in heaven or purgatory, is exposed by asking simple questions, concrete and specific, questions that can’t be answered, concretely and specifically, objectively and empirically, but only by asserting and/or invoking, abstractly and nebulously, with logic or emotion, with simplicity or sophistication, ignorance or erudition, a belief in miracles and the supernatural, including the phantasm of mind/body dualism, De Carte’s “ghost in the machine.”
For nearly all believers, God is not a person with a body but an intangible spirit, an immaterial person, a being with a mind but no body, a disembodied mind that designed and created the universe, including life on earth -and, for theists, far more fantastically, a being with a mind but no body that is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-seeing, all hearing, omniscient and omnipotent.
For theists, God can hear and answer the prayers of believers and supplicants, albeit there is no evidence, objective and empirical, that it has ever done so, and perform miracles even though it hasn’t performed a single miracle since putatively designing and creating the universe, for which there is also no evidence, presupposing that Christianity is false and that Jesus was not the “son of God” who was born of a virgin and resurrected after his death by crucifixion, and that the dogmas and miracles of Islam are also mythical and even more ludicrous and sensational.
But how can a mind with no body even exist much less design and create a universe of incredulous, astonishing, incomprehensible, and stupefying vastness and complexity? How can a mind and person with no brain or body even exist much less design and create a universe with a hundred billion galaxies, each with a hundred billion stars, and who knows how many universes, galaxies, stars, planets, forms of life, intelligent life, comparable or identical to human life, beyond our universe -all designed and created, magically and miraculously, by an incorporeal being with supranatural powers.
For theists, how can a being with no eyes not only see but see the actions of over 7 billion people, simultaneously, on every continent, in all nations, in myriads of cities of all sizes, from metropolises to hamlets, on myriads of farms and in primitive cultures, at work or at play, engaged in an array of sports, at home or outside, eating, watching TV, writing on a computer, “surfing” the internet, in bed, sleeping or having sex, urinating and defecating and masturbating, sitting in parks, shopping and eating in malls or in stores and restaurants, swimming in pools and lakes and oceans, walking or running on trails and streets, in cars trucks, buses, trains, planes, n myriads of jails and prisons and “re-education” camps and mental institutions, etc., everywhere humans exist, everything that they do -all seen by God, simultaneously, incredulously and inexplicably.
How can a entity with no ears not only hear but hear the voices of billions of people, simultaneously, whether talking, singing, laughing, screaming in pain or in rage, etc. How can a being with no ears hear the prayers of billions of people, hundreds of thousands of men and women and boys and girls praying to theistic Gods, simultaneously, every minute of every hour of every day, or read their minds if they pray in silence?
And envisage and think of the psychic effects on people who believe that such a God is watching and listening to them every second and minute and hour of everyday no matter what they’re doing and saying for their entire mortal lives?
